Bio

Karen Bates has been doing fiber art for over a quarter of a century. During that time she has also produced four wonderful children, five books, and more quilts than she can count — while studiously avoiding anything having to do with the kitchen.

When not playing in her studio, she can be found hiking with her dog, dyeing fabric with a friend, teaching herself guitar, or bargaining at garage sales. She finds inspiration from nature, her supportive art critique group and the constant input from her youngest daughter.

I hope you enjoy my work.
